About The Position

S&ME is seeking motivated, full-time Construction Materials Engineering Technicians at all experience levels to join their Construction Services group in Greenville, North Carolina. This role is crucial for ensuring construction projects, ranging from local eateries to major sports venues, are built with quality and safety as top priorities. The company emphasizes investing in employee growth, offering hands-on training, mentorship, and opportunities for advancement. Experienced professionals can assume leadership roles, guiding projects and mentoring colleagues.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong English communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Basic math proficiency, including understanding of measurements and units of weight.
  • The understanding of a fluctuating schedule and interest in occasional travel.
  • Candidates must comply with our Fleet Management, Substance Policy, and Reference Check requirements.
  • Only candidates with valid employment eligibility (I-9) will be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in a related field preferred for advanced levels.
  • Prior leadership or mentoring experience is a plus for Technician IV.
  • Industry certifications such as American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician, and/or International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils).

Responsibilities

  • Performing field and laboratory testing on construction materials like concrete, asphalt, soil, and aggregates.
  • Collecting and preparing samples for analysis.
  • Interpreting test results and preparing detailed reports.
  • Working closely with engineers, contractors, and project managers to ensure all work meets specifications and safety guidelines.
  • Shifting work hours based on project demands and weather, including early mornings, some Saturdays, and overtime (paid at time and a half).
  • Occasional travel to support other offices, with per diem and lodging covered.
