About The Position

S&ME is looking for an eager and dedicated full-time Construction Materials Engineering Technician to join our Construction Services team in Greensboro, North Carolina. As a seasoned Construction Materials Engineering Technician, you'll be equipped with a company vehicle to conduct field testing and observations of construction materials at various project sites. At S&ME, we are committed to ensuring everything is "built right," and we take that responsibility very seriously. Requirements

High School diploma/GED
Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction testing/inspecting soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials
At least two(2) or more active certifications: American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician OR International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils)
Effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
Good math skills with a basic understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure
The understanding of a fluctuating schedule and an interest in occasional travel
Have a valid United States driver's license or an International Driving Permit (IDP) for driving in the US, with an acceptable driving record
Working outdoors in varying weather conditions
Ability to operate a company-assigned vehicle safely (Truck or SUV)
Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing (potentially up to 12 hours a day)
Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
Working outside of normal business hours and traveling (typically out-of-town and/or overnight) as project needs arise

Responsibilities

Understand project requirements before fieldwork; accurately record observations and test results related to construction materials such as soil, concrete, asphalt, and other pertinent materials.
Efficiently manage data using field and laboratory information systems.
Ensure field and lab tools are accurate and meet industry standards.
Follow International Building Code (IBC) standards for testing and inspecting construction materials.
Interact with management, contractors, and clients to report project progress and resolve any issues.
Experience shifting work hours based on project needs and weather conditions, including early mornings, some Saturdays, and overtime (paid at time and a half).
