The Certerra Southwest division offers professional services in the southwestern United States in the fields of geotechnical engineering, environmental engineering, construction materials engineering and testing, nondestructive testing, and welding inspection. We have a full-time opportunity for an experienced Construction Materials Department Manager in our Salt Lake City, UT office.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of construction materials testing and observation experience, required
  • Ability to read and comprehend plans and specifications, required
  • Experience in forming relationships with clients and preparing bid estimates/proposals for materials testing and special inspections projects, required
  • Experience in managing staff, required
  • High school diploma or equivalent, required
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving history, required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail, required
  • Strong organization and planning skills required
  • Comfortable with MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and OneDrive, required
  • ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician
  • One ICC Certification

Nice To Haves

  • Experience ranging from small to large complex construction and/or heavy highway projects, preferred
  • 4-year Civil Engineering degree, preferred
  • EIT or PE level accreditation, preferred
  • ICC Reinforced Concrete Special Inspector
  • ICC Structural Masonry Special Inspector
  • ICC Pre-stressed Concrete Special Inspector
  • Nuclear Gauge / Radiation Safety

Responsibilities

  • Work with project designers and clients to ensure that client specifications are followed
  • Business development including forming relationships with clients, identifying new opportunities, and preparation of proposals and bid estimates
  • Training, supervising, and mentoring staff
  • Track project budgets and prepare invoices
  • Perform routine to complex inspections and testing of construction materials in the field
  • Prepare daily reports on observation activities
  • Review observation and test data for accuracy and completeness
