About The Position

Reporting to the Vice-President, Engineering and Construction, the Construction Manager will play a key role in safeguarding project timelines and budgets, leading the oversight of complex MEP installations, and ensuring seamless operational readiness — from daily site supervision through to the final punch list completion.

Requirements

  • 10 + years of experience managing large-scale mission-critical projects or hyperscale data center builds
  • 10+ years construction management experience
  • 10+ years experience in project management
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field considered an asset
  • Certification in Project Management (construction) preferred.
  • Advanced written, verbal, and presentation skills used to bridge communication between field teams and executive stakeholders.
  • Strong planning, organizational, time management skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and process-driven.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate cross-functional teams.
  • Independent, proactive, and comfortable leading local initiatives.
  • Strategic thinker with practical execution skills.
  • Skilled at interpreting complex drawings and 3D models to identify conflicts early and manage the RFI process with design engineers.
  • Disciplined approach to managing punch lists and closeout documentation to ensure a seamless transition to the operations team.
  • Familiarity with data center construction and infrastructure projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction industry, including building materials, construction specifications, methods and procedures, safety, and quality management practices.
  • Proficiency in writing and administering subcontracts, purchase orders, and managing cost/change order processes.
  • Solid understanding of construction law, permitting procedures, and local/federal building codes.
  • Regular business hours, Monday to Friday, with the ability to manage tight deadlines.
  • Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to respond to critical incidents.

Responsibilities

  • Own and enforce the highest standards of site safety. Implement and oversee safety protocols, conduct daily safety briefings, and ensure full compliance with all local, federal, and organizational health and safety regulations.
  • Oversee the Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) program. Inspect all work at critical milestones to ensure conformance with approved engineering designs, specifications, and building codes.
  • Manage all required site permitting, scheduling, and successful passing of regulatory inspections throughout the construction lifecycle.
  • Provide full-time, hands-on supervision and management of all trade contractors, subcontractors, and construction activities on site.
  • Drive the daily and weekly project schedules, proactively identifying and resolving critical path issues, resource conflicts, and delays to ensure on-time project completion.
  • Monitor and control project costs at the site level, validating contractor progress billing, managing change orders, and ensuring work is performed within the allocated budget.
  • Serve as the point of contact for General Contractors and key subcontractors, managing performance, conducting regular progress meetings, and maintaining strong working relationships.
  • Coordinate closely with the Mechanical and Electrical Design Engineers to clarify design intent, manage the Request for Information (RFI) process, and implement necessary field changes.
  • Prepare and submit accurate daily and weekly progress reports, photographs, and documentation detailing construction activities, safety incidents, quality issues, and projected impacts to the project schedule.
  • Coordinate and assist the Commissioning Agent and Operations team during the Integrated System Testing (IST) and final commissioning phases.
  • Manage the final punch list completion, secure all required closeout documentation (as-builts, O&M manuals), and ensure smooth, timely turnover of the completed facility to the Operations team.
