Sr. Architect/Engineer West Haven, CT: Hospital Recovery
About The Position
We are seeking a motivated Construction Manager with an Architecture degree to join our team at a VA Hospital in West Haven, CT. The role involves acting as Design and Construction Managers, reporting to a Program Manager, and collaborating with VA client staff to provide data, generate reports, and represent the client on major healthcare construction projects. This role is best suited for professionals who have supported complex construction projects within healthcare, government, or institutional environments, are comfortable analyzing financial, schedule, and compliance data to support program-level decisions, and can operate independently while collaborating effectively with program leadership, clients, and contractors. The Construction Manager will be a part of a team of professionals and act as the Owner's Representative role on these programs from design through construction and closeout. The Construction Manager will be required to learn and integrate our company’s best practices related to project delivery, budget, schedule, quality and operations in the healthcare environment. The Construction Manager will act as an advisor/liaison with the client (user groups, design team, contractors, and facility engineering representatives). The Construction Management services will be used to support traditional Design-Bid-Build and Design/Build contracts.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree of Architecture from an accredited institution is required.
- Licensed (RA or AIA Preferred)
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in construction administration, construction management, or a closely related field
- Experience supporting regulated environments (federal, healthcare, or institutional) is highly desirable
- Candidates may be asked to provide examples or documentation of completed projects demonstrating relevant experience
- Construction Contract Documents including Front End and Technical Specifications and drawings to readily understand and assess requirements.
- Working knowledge of engineering services, building codes budgeting and scheduling to lead the project’s success.
- Familiarity with construction practices, quality assurance, scheduling, cost management, and change management
- Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment in administrative, financial, and compliance matters
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
- Strong written, verbal, and organizational communication skills

- CCM, PMP certifications
Responsibilities
- Analyze and monitor project financial data, budget performance, and cost trends
- Review construction schedules and support progress and performance evaluations
- Participate in progress meetings and support issue identification and resolution
- Review testing, inspection and quality assurance documentation for compliance
- Support claims administration, change management, and contract modifications
- Review contractor work documentation and reported progress for conformance with construction documents and approved schedules
- Prepare analytical reports, correspondence, and program status documentation
- Maintain tracking tools and reporting systems supporting program oversight
- Advise program leadership on construction administration best practices and compliance considerations
