About The Position

The Construction Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating construction activities associated with healthcare facility projects within an active hospital environment. This role oversees all phases of construction project delivery, including project planning, scheduling, budgeting, execution, quality assurance, and closeout. The Construction Manager serves as the primary liaison between project stakeholders, contractors, architects, engineers, and government leadership to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with contract requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of Construction Management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience planning, directing, and coordinating construction projects involving building systems, facilities, and infrastructure improvements.
  • Strong knowledge of construction project delivery methods, including Design-Build and Design-Bid-Build.
  • Experience managing project schedules, budgets, quality control programs, and contractor performance.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and technical documentation.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency with construction management software, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Experience supporting federal government, Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), healthcare, or hospital construction projects.
  • Experience managing projects in occupied healthcare environments.
  • Familiarity with federal construction regulations, commissioning processes, and facility operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate construction projects from initial planning through final completion.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, resource plans, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Monitor contractor performance and progress against established milestones.
  • Review and evaluate change orders, requests for information (RFIs), submittmits, and construction documentation.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, facility leadership, and government stakeholders to resolve project issues and maintain project momentum.
  • Conduct site inspections and project meetings to monitor quality, schedule adherence, and safety compliance.
  • Prepare and present project status reports, cost analyses, and executive-level briefings.
  • Support contract administration, claims management, dispute resolution, and project closeout activities.
  • Ensure minimal disruption to ongoing hospital operations while managing construction activities within occupied healthcare facilities.
