About The Position

Bechtel is hiring a Construction Manager for electrical construction on a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. The role leads a large team, including 15+ staff and 1,000+ direct-hire craft professionals, and provides overall field leadership for assigned electrical construction activities. The manager is accountable for safety, quality, productivity, schedule, and execution performance, while directing electrical superintendents, general foremen, foremen, and craft personnel. The position plans and coordinates field execution, develops short- and medium-term work plans and craft manpower curves, monitors production and staffing, and takes action to resolve constraints or recover performance. The manager also ensures work packages are ready for field release and that installation sequencing supports testing, commissioning, energization, startup, and turnover. The position requires a bachelor's degree or international equivalent and 13–15 years of relevant experience, or 17–19 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree. Bechtel offers a robust benefits program; details are available through Bechtel Total Rewards.

  • Provide field leadership for direct-hire electrical construction and be accountable for safety, quality, productivity, schedule, and execution performance.
  • Develop, maintain, and drive the three-week look-ahead schedule, ensuring work is sequenced, measurable, constraint-free, and aligned with project milestones.
  • Develop and manage a 90-day execution plan covering work fronts, engineering, materials, equipment, access, predecessor activities, staffing, and schedule risks.

  • Directly manage craft execution and lead electrical superintendents, general foremen, foremen, and craft personnel.
  • Support other area superintendents by resolving execution issues, balancing craft resources, coordinating shared work fronts, and promoting consistent execution practices.
  • Review planned versus actual quantities, installed production, earned hours, productivity, and staffing; identify gaps and implement recovery actions.
  • Maintain sufficient ready-to-work craft backlog and identify constraints before they affect field execution.
  • Coordinate electrical installation activities, including cabling, terminations, panels/RIO cabinets, junction boxes, calibration, testing, and system completion.
  • Work with planning to ensure schedules reflect field conditions, production rates, sequence, manpower loading, and remaining quantities.
  • Ensure installation sequencing supports loop checks, functional testing, commissioning, energization/startup, and system turnover.
  • Coordinate with Engineering to resolve design issues, RFIs, constructability concerns, late design changes, and field conditions affecting installation.
  • Coordinate with Procurement and Material Management to ensure instruments, bulk and specialty materials, and vendor equipment are available before planned installation dates.
  • Review work packages and installation plans for required drawings, specifications, materials, permits, access, tools, equipment, and predecessor work before releasing work to the field.

  • Maintain a regular presence in work areas, verify field conditions, coach subordinate superintendents and foremen, and resolve craft-level issues promptly.
  • Participate in construction coordination, schedule, system completion, and management meetings; communicate status, risks, manpower needs, constraints, and recovery plans.
