About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a Construction Manager to join their Water Business Line - Construction Management team. This role will be based out of San Diego or Riverside, California. The Construction Manager will utilize their expertise and technical knowledge of construction inspection, construction field management, QA/QC, and report documentation on various construction and/or reconstruction projects for municipal water and wastewater treatment, power generation, manufacturing facilities, or other heavy construction projects. The Construction Manager will report to the Senior Construction Manager and/or Project Manager and provide regular updates on daily construction activities for their area of oversight.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of civil/utility field construction experience.
  • Experience in general contracting and supporting civil construction inspection on small to large heavy civil projects, including municipal and building facility work.
  • Working knowledge of P6 scheduling and ability to review construction documents, track progress, and support project controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex information, perform mathematical calculations, and develop practical, innovative solutions to project challenges.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to organize large volumes of information, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively with teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to work year-round in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to adapt to flexible shifts.
  • Ability to navigate active construction sites.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering preferred
  • CCM (Certified Construction Manager) certification a plus
  • OSHA 10 training
  • Confined Space Entry training

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing and inspecting contractor work to ensure projects are delivered in accordance with design, quality, and safety standards.
  • Monitoring daily field activities.
  • Coordinating with project stakeholders.
  • Ensuring compliance with contract documents and project requirements.
  • Observing and inspecting contractor work.
  • Performing punch list inspections.
  • Verifying equipment and material installations.
  • Identifying deviations from contract documents while clearly communicating required corrections.
  • Preparing daily activity and progress reports.
  • Maintaining payment quantity documentation.
  • Performing necessary calculations.
  • Supporting contractor invoice and project schedule reviews.
  • Maintaining quality assurance standards.
  • Monitoring code compliance.
  • Ensuring all work aligns with drawings, specifications, and technical requirements.
  • Reviewing submittals and construction documents.
  • Recommending technical solutions.
  • Attending and actively participating in construction, safety, and coordination meetings.
  • Tracking contractor resource utilization (labor, materials, equipment) for field changes and time-and-material work.
  • Assisting with negotiating field changes.
  • Ensuring adherence to Arcadis safety guidelines while coordinating specialized testing inspections.
