About The Position

First Quality is a family-owned company founded over 35 years ago, with a significant presence across the U.S. and Canada. We specialize in producing high-quality personal care and household products. We are seeking a Construction Manager for our First Quality Tissue Midwest, LLC facility in Defiance, OH. This role is the primary point of contact for all construction project activities related to water treatment, managing on-site resources, vendors, and service organizations to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. The Construction Manager reports to the Project Manager and collaborates with Procurement and Project Controls. This position offers construction expertise during the design and bid package development phases, manages all aspects of field construction and administration for raw and wastewater treatment, and oversees construction checkout activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with a proven track record of success.
• Minimum OSHA 30 Training.
• Demonstrated capability leading a diverse team to achieve overall project goals.
• Ability to track and manage project schedule and costs to maximize efficiency.
• Must be comfortable in both professional office and field work environments.
• Proficient in MS Word/Excel/Outlook and project scheduling tools.
• Ability to keep sensitive information confidential.
• Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
• Skill in documenting and assessing field conditions, RFIs, and change orders.
• Understanding of Contract documentation, specifications, and drawings.
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.

• Paper & Pulp experience desirable.
• Geographic mobility and willingness to relocate is a very desirable quality.

Responsibilities

• Providing constructability reviews with Engineers for detailed design.
• Traveling to respective company office locations for work.
• Assisting with package development, bidder interviews, and selection.
• Championing the project’s Safety & Quality control programs.
• Providing direction, supervision, and development to all direct reports, ensuring clear direction, feedback, and development for all project team members.
• Managing any health, safety, or environmental incidents to ensure proper investigation and implementation of corrective actions.
• Planning, organizing, and directing construction project activities to meet schedule.
• Coordinating the work of selected contractors and ensuring all work is completed safely.
• Collaborating with operations, maintenance, and engineering personnel to ensure FQT standards are achieved during the construction phase.
• Inspecting or reviewing projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, environmental regulations, and all other regulations.
• Ensuring all necessary permits and licenses are obtained.
• Providing regular verbal and/or written communication to the Project Manager on construction objectives and status.
• Attending and providing updates for management meetings.
• Working with Project Controls to ensure the legitimacy and accuracy of change orders and invoices.
• Performing other duties as necessary when directed.
