About The Position

The Construction Manager is responsible for meeting contract requirements and Valmet’s financial and HSE goals by planning, pricing and managing the site operations, ensuring cost effectiveness, quality and correct timing. This role involves working with subcontractors and the Valmet project team to plan, price, and present Valmet-supplied installation services, while assuring safe work at the site. The Construction Manager will liaise with the customer as the primary contact in construction-related matters, aiming to promote customer satisfaction. Key responsibilities include ensuring on-schedule and on-budget delivery of Valmet-supplied installation activities, fulfilling contractual liabilities, and preparing necessary notifications and claims to defend Valmet’s commercial rights. The role also requires establishing site planning and scheduling for progress monitoring, managing subcontractor resources, implementing catch-up plans for schedule delays, and managing the Valmet supervision team at the site.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a 2-year associate's degree.
  • Minimum of ten years of experience in a related role.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferably a four-year degree from a University in Engineering or Construction Management.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, price, and manage site operations to meet contract requirements and financial/HSE goals.
  • Work with subcontractors and Valmet project team to plan, price, and present Valmet-supplied installation services.
  • Assure safe work at site.
  • Liaise with customer as primary contact in construction related matters.
  • Ensure on schedule and on budget delivery of Valmet supplied installation activities.
  • Ensure contractual liabilities are fulfilled towards customer and by subcontractors at site.
  • Prepare necessary notifications and claims to customer and subcontractors to defend Valmet’s commercial rights.
  • Establish site planning and scheduling for progress monitoring and delay identification.
  • Follow-up subcontractor resources and manage shortfalls.
  • Implement catch-up plans as necessary for schedule delays.
  • Manage the Valmet supervision team at site.
  • Generate the delivery scope of equipment and services, including customer requirements and obligations.
  • Maintain Valmet tooling and organize deployment to customer sites.
  • Work with Valmet and subcontract engineering during the design phase to introduce construction efficiencies.
  • Act as the contact for the customer, site experts, subcontractors and other site-related activities.
  • Represent Valmet in site meetings with the customer and other vendors.
  • Ensure site safety by sharing HSE instructions and requirements, implementing site-specific HSE plans and risk assessments, and ensuring work compliance with laws, regulations, and HSE standards.
  • Manage and report progress, cost, headcount, and time schedule internally at Valmet.
  • Report progress to the customer.
  • Ensure customer’s readiness for construction/installation and site operations.
  • Oversee construction/installation of Valmet-supplied equipment and materials safely, following budgets and schedule.
  • Provide/lead site feedback to related functions, including comments on designs and recommended improvements.
  • Evaluate subcontractors after site completion.
