We are actively looking for a Title to join our San Diego office. As part of the Construction Management Group, the Senior Construction Manager will work closely with the Southern California-based team to lead various heavy civil and marine structural projects to support Port Projects and ongoing Capital Improvements Program. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing construction administration services and oversight of projects from design through construction, as well as managing the systematic and consistent supervision of clients, people, processes, resources, and projects during construction for the mutual success of our Clients, Department, and Company. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineer, or related field; required
  • 10 – 15+ years of experience in Construction Management Heavy Civil Engineering projects; required
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Products; required
  • Self-motivated, engaged, team-oriented, and strategic thinking with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision
  • Strong leadership and team building and engagement skills as well as excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of accounting principles, including budgeting and forecasting
  • Strong writing & communication skills are necessary to effectively relay information and document project activities utilizing the appropriate medium
  • Availability and willingness to travel
  • Must have a reliable vehicle and a valid driver's license in good standing for travel to client or job sites
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Responsibilities

  • Manages projects ranging in size from <$1M to >+$100M, actively communicate with the project team, and work to minimize project risks that may compromise safety, schedule, budget, or quality
  • Proactively monitors contractor and field activities on a daily basis to identify and resolve issues in advance that could negatively impact the project
  • Acts as the primary project interface with the client, project engineer, contractor, utility companies, and other agencies
  • Leads and coordinates construction and field meetings with the contractor and client
  • Coordinates with multiple departments and agencies to ensure smooth project progression with minimal impact to operations and other stakeholders
  • Collaborates with engineers to discuss and resolve field construction issues and propose practical solutions
  • Leads the project team in monitoring construction and contractor operations for conformance with the contract, safety, schedule, quality control, proactive change management, pay applications, closeout, and facilitate record drawings in accordance with construction documents. Work together with our local document and project controls specialist to track and maintain project information
  • Assist with management and technical review of submittits and RFI’s
  • Provide support to the engineering team during contractor prequalification or bid efforts, including constructability reviews, pre-bid meetings, contract procurement, etc.
  • Schedules and coordinates project inspections
