About The Position

Parsons is looking for a talented Construction Manager, Airports to join their team to work on the Austin Airport improvements project. This role is responsible for the coordination and monitoring of overall field construction administration activities and supporting the Project Managers in managing engineering services on diverse projects. The goal is to ensure construction projects are completed in compliance with design specifications, within budget, and on schedule.

Requirements

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the construction industry.
  • Solid understanding of current environmental codes and regulatory requirements applicable to airport-related construction.
  • Well-versed in all phases of vertical building construction.
  • Familiarity with minimum code requirements.
  • Capability of navigating design documents and contract specifications with confidence.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) for coordination with contractors, clients, subcontractors, stakeholders, ABIA executive team, Airlines, ABIA Operations, Environmental teams, etc.
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite, Procore, and SharePoint.
  • Leadership & Team Management skills: Guiding diverse teams, resolving conflicts, and keeping morale high on-site.
  • Time Management skills: Juggling multiple timelines and ensuring projects stay on schedule.
  • Problem-Solving skills: Quickly addressing unexpected issues like weather delays, supply shortages, or design changes.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility and calmness under pressure.
  • Negotiation skills: Managing contracts, budgets, and vendor relationships.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring safety, quality, and compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing field and construction activities, including construction coordinators and other CM support staff as approved by AUS.
  • Performing QC checks on their own work and that of their staff.
  • Supporting the APM in coordinating with other COA departments (i.e. Capital Delivery, CPEAT, DSD, Finance, etc.).
  • Assisting APM, PM and CDPM in change management & scope development.
  • Acting as a liaison between contractors and internal field AUS stakeholders (i.e. Maintenance, Operations, Security, etc.).
  • Attending Contractor Progress (OAC) meetings, punch walks, mockup reviews, etc.
  • Verifying construction contractors’ mobilization schedules and providing recommendations to APM for approval of contractual requirements before Notice to Proceed.
  • Maintaining a detailed knowledge of the preparation, updating, and maintenance of project schedule(s), including overall and individual schedules for design review, procurement, and construction activities.
  • Coordinating with the Program/Project Manager and collaborating with pre-construction and design teams to review plans and information related to constructability and project costs.
  • Reviewing and approving contractors’ Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) and Logistics plan(s).
  • Managing quality services related to oversight and supervision of construction contractors’ quality control services to ensure contract standards are met.
  • Reviewing, adapting, and monitoring construction safety programs.
  • Leading periodic construction meetings and additional meetings as needed to resolve issues impacting cost and schedule.
  • Supporting the review and negotiations of Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) field costs, equipment, and General Conditions (GCs).
  • Working with AUS’s Environmental Officer to monitor compliance with all environmental requirements.
  • Overseeing construction monitoring and associated reporting to confirm Contractor compliance with contract requirements.
  • Ensuring project site and company assets are secure and maintaining a safe and respectful working environment by coordinating with ROCIP team, AUS safety and risk management teams.
  • Providing input to monthly pay-application reviews for APM and CDPM.
  • Reviewing Daily Construction Reports and weekly work plans prepared by COA construction coordinators to achieve schedule compliance.
  • Supporting the contract change order review process, including reviewing contractor estimates, negotiating change orders, and assisting APM in obtaining required approvals.
