About The Position

This role is assigned responsibilities involving the care and maintenance of park property. Duties range from lawn care to minor construction and repair. The position is with Alabaster Caverns State Park, under the Department of Tourism and Recreation, and is a regular, full-time role. Starting pay is $15.00 per hour. After successful completion of a one-year trial period with OTRD, the rate may increase to $15.45 per hour.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• At least two years of experience in one or more building trades, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to perform tasks involving regular bending, stooping, squatting, walking, and lifting items up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions, including prolonged exposure to heat, humidity, sun, and wind.
• A valid driver's license is required at some locations.

Responsibilities

• Install, replace, alter, maintain, and repair plumbing fixtures and related water, steam, air, and waste lines; make minor repairs to laundry and other equipment.
• Perform construction and renovation of buildings and additions; erect and maintain scaffolds and structures; alter and repair building fixtures including doors, floors, partitions, stairways, windows, and roofs; fit and glaze glass.
• Maintain and repair light fixtures, receptacles, switches, generators, and motors; troubleshoot and make electrical repairs that do not require a license; perform minor maintenance and repairs on heating, refrigeration, and air-conditioning equipment.
• Install and maintain locks and other security devices; repair or replace their components and cut keys.
• Construct, maintain, and repair foundations, retaining walls, walks, fireplaces, chimneys, stairways, and similar projects using masonry and other materials.
• Operate, maintain, and repair equipment used for construction and grounds maintenance, including trucks, tractors, bulldozers, power shovels, cranes, semi-trailer tractors, forklifts, mowers, and edgers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
