About The Position

This position will be contracted by Destination Enterprises on behalf of LAWA. The Construction Logistics Specialist II will be responsible for overseeing temporary wayfinding strategies, assessing signage quality, managing collaborative projects, and ensuring effective user experience within airport environments. The role requires a strong understanding of construction logistics, signage, and visual communication, with the ability to coordinate across multidisciplinary teams and analyze project documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Aviation, Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Planning or other related technical field required.
  • 10 years or more experience, preferably on airport building programs or similar complex building programs.
  • Proficient in assessing signage quality, visual appeal, and adherence to standards.
  • Experience managing multiple collaborative wayfinding projects with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficient in reading, interpreting, and analyzing project schedules, Gantt charts, and design plans.
  • In-depth understanding of signage materials, fabrication methods, color theory, typography, and font specifications.
  • Knowledge of signage, temporary wayfinding, and mapping industry best practices.
  • Strong visualization skills.
  • Experience in developing concepts, location plans, and proposed wayfinding paths of travel with high visual impact.
  • Hands-on experience with installation procedures.
  • Skilled in tracking phasing for production, and installation schedules across multiple projects.
  • High attention to detail in verifying the quality and consistency of signage and wayfinding elements.
  • Skilled in layout and information design, including the formatting of wayfinding plans, maps, newsletters, flyers, stakeholder updates, and presentation materials.
  • Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and Bluebeam for creating, editing, and reviewing visual materials and layouts.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, Publisher, PowerPoint) for project communication, scheduling, and documentation.
  • Must pass the federal background check and LAWA Badge is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Optional Certifications may include AAAE, LEED, PMP, PE, AICP etc. or any other relevant Professional Licensure or Certifications.
  • Preferably on airport building programs or similar complex building programs.

Responsibilities

  • Create, implement, and oversee temporary wayfinding strategies that support pedestrian flow and user experience.
  • Assess signage quality, visual appeal, and adherence to standards, recommending appropriate sign types.
  • Manage multiple collaborative wayfinding projects with multidisciplinary teams, including staff with technical and non-technical backgrounds.
  • Coordinate across various disciplines, meeting multiple deadlines under pressure in a dynamic environment.
  • Read, interpret, and analyze project schedules, Gantt charts, and design plans.
  • Evaluate signage needs based on construction activities, environmental factors, and user expectations to maintain effective wayfinding.
  • Review projects' submittals Phasing Plan and Site Logistics Plans as submitted through the ASR and LIR processes with a keen eye for wayfinding impacts.
  • Develop concepts, location plans, and proposed wayfinding paths of travel with high visual impact.
  • Plan, produce, and install temporary wayfinding that translates complex information into easy-to-understand visuals.
  • Conduct regular site walks to evaluate signage effectiveness and update plans as needed.
  • Track phasing for production and installation schedules across multiple projects, ensuring timely completion and a holistic approach.
  • Verify the quality and consistency of signage and wayfinding elements, ensuring visual appeal and usability across all materials.
  • Format wayfinding plans, maps, newsletters, flyers, stakeholder updates, and presentation materials.
  • Apply visual hierarchy, consistency, readability, and brand/program standards to ensure materials are clear, professional, and audience appropriate.
  • Clearly communicate technical or field-based information to both project teams and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Pass the federal background check and obtain LAWA Badge.
