Construction Logistics Planner

Compass DatacentersDallas, TX
Onsite

About The Position

Come join our Rocket Ship and be part of Compass Datacenter’s mission to make life better by providing the world’s technology leaders with a secure place to plug-in wherever they grow. We provide custom, move-in ready data centers, from edge deployments to core facilities serving hyperscale, cloud and enterprise customers. At Compass we have our sights set on leaving a legacy imprint on the data center industry. By putting Culture first, we can show this not only produces results, but more importantly, can change lives. Compass is looking for a Construction Logistics Planner who can translate high-rise and heavy OFCI construction logistics expertise into the Compass campus build model — shifting the organization from downstream firefighting to upstream, prescriptive planning. This is a new role with high visibility and a cross-functional mandate from day one. It reports into the SVP, Delivery and works directly with Development, Design, Finance, Customer Success, General Contractors, and Commissioning/Operations — serving as the connective tissue that ensures every logistics decision is made early, intentionally, and in service of continuously improving the schedule performance of Compass’s data center builds.

Requirements

  • Exceptional communicator who is good with analogies and is able to translate complex sequencing logic to both technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels, including executive leadership.
  • As passionate about days in a schedule as Compass’s best financial operators are about dollars in a budget.
  • Experience working “inside the box”, or within defined constraints, to change industry norms and confidently push back on GCs and other contractors to build our data centers the Compass Way.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and lead prescriptive pre-construction walk-throughs with GCs; comfortable running a detailed sequence review before an initial GC schedule has been made.
  • Logistics experience on high-rise construction or heavy OFCI/pre-fab modular programs — with direct experience managing concurrent vertical work: fitting out lower floors while structure continues above.
  • Proven track record on constrained urban job sites with limited lay-down space, active multi-trade sequencing, and real-time resequencing under pressure — and a history of finishing on time despite those conditions.
  • Construction experience is a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Front-End Site Logistics: Engage during site selection to provide logistics inputs — batch plant location, lay-down areas, staging, parking, traffic flows, ring-road installation, and berm timing — before land is acquired. Ensure site constraints inform the build model from the outset, not as an afterthought.
  • Campus Sequencing Oversight: Maintain a single, live sequencing view across all active campuses. Drive nimble pivots when site conditions, customer requirements, or GC schedules shift — and document every resequencing decision with clear rationale and downstream impact.
  • RFP Table-Setting: Make Compass’s logistics requirements prescriptive in the RFP. Conduct sequencing walk-throughs with prospective GCs before an initial schedule is made — mirroring the Compass page-turn model — and hold bidders accountable to submitting draft logistics plans as a standard RFP deliverable.
  • Base Build Sequencing: Drive clearer sequencing logic with GCs during active construction, establishing “walk us through the sequence” as a standard checkpoint. Proactively identify fit-out conflicts — especially where base build and WSFO work is concurrent — before they become schedule risk.
  • Resequencing Support: Serve as the go-to resource for Delivery Managers across active campuses facing sequencing challenges. Help identify pivot options, quantify schedule impact, and communicate changes to project teams and stakeholders when conditions shift or a GC falls behind.
