About The Position

The Construction Liaison Coordinator manages the flow of information between hospital departments and contractors, oversees project schedules as it relates to establishing delivery schedules, and verifies compliance with healthcare-specific codes (e.g., FGI guidelines, NFPA 99). Individuals are responsible for reviewing change orders for submission, facilitating timelines for vendor delivery, and managing the project closeout and turnover processes.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of healthcare construction experience, often with a background in project management, facility maintenance, or clinical operations.
  • Strong understanding of construction documents (blueprints, submittments) and proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore).
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations, including NFPA 99 and infection control protocols.
  • Ability to bridge the gap between technical construction terms and clinical operational needs.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP).
  • Certificate from: American Society for Health Care Engineering
  • Certified Health Care Facility Manager (CHCFM Preferred)
  • NBCOT (OTR), current BLS/CPR (AHA preferred), and professional liability insurance ($1M/$3M minimum) required prior to first clinical day.
  • Follow all facility safety, infection control, OSHA, and emergency preparedness policies while on-site.
  • Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry.
  • Clean, presentable clothing is required. This typically includes long pants (no shorts), shirts with sleeves (at least 4"), and sturdy work boots. Shirts must often display the company name.
  • Maintain professional appearance and wear facility identification while on-site.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main point of contact between owners’ representative and external construction partners to keep all parties aligned and on schedule
  • Review and administer contracts for signature, submits change orders, and invoices; provide reporting on project cost and schedule to VPO.
  • Ensure projects comply with State, and CIHQ FGI building requirements, specifically managing infection control risk assessments (ICRA) and life safety code compliance, NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, NFPA 110 110, Section 8.4.2 diesel generators.
  • Monitor construction progress through regular site visits and verify that construction meets the quality and technical standards of the hospital.
  • Ensure materials and equipment must never obstruct fire alarm pull boxes, extinguishers, or exit corridors. All fire-rated barrier penetrations must be properly sealed, often requiring a specific.
  • Partner with the GC and Superintendent for seamless project closeout and warranty initiation.
  • Oversee installation of specialized medical equipment and verify completion of all TAB procedures.
  • Ensure all Med-air/gas certifications and generator/transfer switch commissioning records are fully documented and verified.
