The Construction Lead will support a transformative transit infrastructure project and will be part of a high-performing project team that is dedicated to delivering this complex undertaking through collaboration and a best-for-project vision.

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of construction experience with a focus on mechanical, electrical, communications, and/or integrated systems.
  • Strong knowledge of MEC systems, construction practices, sequencing, and applicable codes and standards (e.g., OBC, CSA, NFPA, TSSA).
  • Experience with subcontractor coordination, contract/change management, commissioning, and (ideally) LEED or sustainability requirements.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders; proficiency in project management tools.
  • Availability to work on site Monday to Friday weekly at downtown Toronto project site

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate construction activities for mechanical, electrical, communications, and vertical transportation systems, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, budget, and contract requirements.
  • Plan, organize, and oversee MEC construction work including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and site logistics.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements (including TSSA), and oversee quality, safety, and environmental performance.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the construction and commissioning teams, fostering collaboration, resolving issues, and ensuring effective coordination across stakeholders.
  • Coordinate system interfaces across disciplines (civil, architectural, and others), including review of design deliverables, shop drawings, RFIs, and technical queries.
  • Manage construction progress, risks, and contract administration activities (including change management and subcontractor performance), implementing mitigation or recovery plans as needed.
  • Lead commissioning, integration, and project closeout activities, including development of procedures, system testing, LEED/sustainability tracking, and turnover documentation.
