About The Position
VSS International, Inc. is seeking qualified and motivated individuals to join our Slurry Seal and Chip Seal road construction crews for a temporary project located in the Santa Cruz County area. This position is contingent upon winning the job.
Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to perform physically demanding work (lifting, standing, walking for extended periods)
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Valid driver’s license required
- 1-3 years of work on a slurry crew
Nice To Haves
- Prior construction or road maintenance experience preferred
- Slurry/chip seal experience a plus
- Class A preferred for equipment roles
Responsibilities
- Assist with slurry seal and chip seal operations on roadways
- Operate or support equipment such as slurry trucks, chip spreaders, and related tools
- Perform pre- and post-operation cleaning of tanks, hoses, and equipment
- Support traffic control setup and maintain safe work zones
- Participate in general labor duties including material handling and site preparation
- Work closely with crew members, operators, and supervisors during paving operations
- Follow all safety guidelines, including DOT/OSHA regulations while working in active roadways
