The Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) aims to enhance the efficiency of New York City's government operations. DCAS plays a crucial role in supporting various city agencies by managing iconic courthouses, municipal buildings, and overseeing significant procurement of goods and services. Facilities Management & Construction (FMC) is responsible for the management, operation, and maintenance of 56 City-owned buildings across the five boroughs, ensuring they are clean, safe, and energy-efficient. FMC handles both daily maintenance through Building Services, Fire & Life Safety, and critical field staff, as well as long-term renovation and rehabilitation projects managed by architects, engineers, and technical experts. FMC also oversees elevator operations in all DCAS public buildings. Construction & Technical Services (CTS), a division within FMC, comprises a team of architects, engineers, elevator mechanics, project managers, and property managers who deliver services for time-sensitive rehabilitation, renovations, and maintenance in City-owned properties. The design team handles in-house designs, field inspections, and ensures compliance with Local Laws, as well as reviewing consultant drawings. The construction team manages and oversees construction projects, ensuring adherence to contract drawings, specifications, building codes, budget, and timelines. They assess field conditions, prepare reports, and coordinate with stakeholders to address design variations. The technical team manages maintenance, surplus property, contracts for services like interior rehabilitation, construction, demolition, and pest control, oversees site safety projects, and maintains elevators, escalators, and ADA lifts. The DCAS Trade Shops provide in-house construction and repair services, including renovations, carpentry, painting, electrical and plumbing repairs, structural work, and manufacturing replacement parts for obsolete equipment, locksmith services, and support for Mayoral Ceremonies and Special Events.
