About The Position
The 10-week paid summer internship at Blum Construction Company provides hands-on experience in commercial construction, including field work, supervision, management, preconstruction, and Virtual Design and Construction. Interns apply classroom knowledge, develop problem-solving and communication skills, and participate in training, team building, and networking opportunities. Positions are available across Asheville, the Triad, and the Triangle, with competitive hourly pay plus a monthly housing/gas stipend.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a construction-related degree program.
- Ability to apply classroom knowledge to practical situations.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to be mobile and actively engaged during events, meetings, and workplace activities.
- Regularly required to sit; occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop or kneel.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Close vision abilities.
- Ability to repetitiously use hands, fingers and arms.
Responsibilities
- Gain hands-on experience in commercial construction, including field work, supervision, management, preconstruction, and Virtual Design and Construction.
- Apply classroom knowledge to real-world construction projects.
- Develop problem-solving and communication skills.
- Participate in training, team building, and networking opportunities.
- Attend an intern seminar focused on The Life Cycle of a Blum Project in the Triad.
- Complete a capstone presentation at the end of the internship.
