About The Position

WSP is seeking a Construction Inspector to oversee road, bridge, or associated construction projects with values ranging from $1-$50 million. This position can be based out of Waterbury, VT. The inspector, depending on experience, will oversee various work elements from excavation, backfilling, compaction, cast-in-place concrete from formwork to reinforcement, installation of precast elements, bridge seats, bearings and joints, bridge rail, drainage, paving, and other incidental items. The inspector will report to the Resident Engineer, or their designee.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 5 years applicable experience
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to learn how to read plans and specifications, or the aptitude to learn.
  • Have a valid driver's license.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate of Science degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or related field.
  • Average proficiency with MS WORD Suite.
  • Hands-on experience with construction management software such as Site or Field Manager, APPIA, Procore, IPD or similar systems.
  • Knowledge of Bluebeam.
  • ACI, NETTCP certification or ability to attain within 3-months of hiring.
  • Any combination of college education, professional licenses, certifications and experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Interfacing with contractor's supervisors to determine and monitor daily work.
  • Complete daily reports, measure and calculate unit price quantities.
  • Help coordinate independent material sampling and testing, or periodically perform the same.
  • Monitor maintenance of traffic.
  • Take and compile photographs, for tracking of daily progress.
  • Helping update red-line drawings using Bluebeam.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
