About The Position

Mead & Hunt has an exceptional opportunity for a highly motivated construction inspector for WVDOH projects in North Central West Virginia. This position is responsible for providing inspection services for transportation construction projects. The inspector ensures all work and materials used are in compliance with the proposal, plans, and specifications. They may perform required calculations, take measurements, and verify weights and volumes as needed. They may plot and run cross sections and prepare "as builds" during the progress of the project. They may perform materials testing. They will document inspected work daily. This position requires heavy lifting, working outside in a variety of conditions on a regular basis, and the ability to perform work independently. Travel to construction sites throughout the state is an essential function of this position; a valid driver’s license is required. Extended hours and overnight stays may be required.

Requirements

  • At least four applicable certifications.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or related field AND four (4) years relevant experience OR An Associate’s Degree in Construction Management or related field AND six (6) years of relevant experience OR If no degree, at least eight (8) years of relevant experience.
  • Heavy lifting.
  • Working outside in a variety of conditions on a regular basis.
  • Ability to perform work independently.
  • Travel to construction sites throughout the state.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Extended hours and overnight stays may be required.

Nice To Haves

  • WVDOH construction inspection and materials testing certifications
  • Working knowledge of WVDOH standards, specifications, and material testing procedures
  • Working knowledge of AASHTOWare Project
