About The Position

As a Construction Inspector with Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) in our Bridgeport, West Virginia office, you'll support a diverse, local, community focused project schedule across the site development sector. CEC Bridgeport is part of our West Virginia operations, which includes offices in Martinsburg and Charleston. Our Bridgeport office is conveniently located off of interstate 79 and is within walking distance of multiple restaurants. We're ranked #1 in West Virginia on the 2024 ENR Mid-Atlantic Top Design Firms List and since opening in 2012, we've been the fastest-growing West Virginia Consulting firms. Requirements

  • 2+ years of construction inspection experience
  • Hands-on experience inspecting and/or testing earthwork, concrete, asphalt, pavement, soil, and other similar materials
  • High school diploma required
  • Valid Drivers License required
  • Capable of recording observations and test results in daily field reports required
  • International Code Council Certification (ICC), American Concrete Inspector (ACI), or Nuclear Density Meter Safety Training Certifications required
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) in the U.S. without sponsorship

Nice To Haves

  • Experience interpreting construction plans and specifications preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform field testing of soils, concrete, and asphalt to ensure compliance with project specs
  • Use specialized equipment like nuclear density gauges and penetrometers
  • Keep equipment clean, calibrated, and ready for action
  • Interact with contractors, engineers, and inspectors as a professional representative of CEC
  • Drive and maintain company vehicles to and from job sites
  • Write daily field reports, interpret project drawings/specs, and enter test data
  • Communicate with Project Managers to keep everything running smoothly
