About The Position

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is a 100% employee-owned consulting firm with over 2,800 professionals providing engineering, architecture, information technology, and related services. JMT's Virginia Beach Construction Management Team is seeking a Construction Inspector. This role involves applying standard inspection procedures to ongoing construction activities to ensure structural quality, general safety, and conformance to plans, specifications, and codes. Please note that immigration sponsorship is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.

Requirements

• Strong computer proficiency.
• Active driver's license.
• Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening.
• High school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience).
• 1-4 years of Roadway Construction Inspection Experience.

Nice To Haves

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management.
• Client-requested certifications.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods to ensure compliance with legal requirements and safety regulations.
• Perform routine tests on concrete, soils, and other materials.
• Measure dimensions and verify the level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades, and/or pavement to ensure compliance with plans and codes.
• Gather and maintain record documents.
• Make field notes and computations.
