Requirements

High school diploma, GED or equivalency
Three (3) years' experience in Public Works/Municipal Construction Inspections.
Must have a current valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Attentive to detail.
Dependability.

Nice To Haves

Associate's Degree in related field
Five (5) years' experience in Public Works/Municipal Construction Inspections.
Skills in general office procedures and policies.
Skills with general office equipment and computers.

Responsibilities

Planning, organizing, supervising, reviewing, and evaluating the work of the construction contractor.
Providing technical support to the Public Works and Utilities Departments.
Preparing and submitting paperwork.
Performing field testing and sample collection.
Checking materials inventory utilized on site.
Reviewing and approving results.
Ensuring materials are in accordance with City's Engineering standards, details' specifications, approved plans, and normal construction practices.
Performing inspection tests to evaluate compliance of work with project requirements.
Reporting all problems, deviations from plans, and unusual conditions.
Reviewing all payment requests.
Providing assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed.
