Procon seeks an experienced Construction Inspector for a long-term opportunity in the Charlotte, NC area, supporting a Tenant Improvement interior fit-out for a new Passport Office. The Construction Inspector will provide on-site quality assurance and construction oversight, ensuring work is completed in accordance with contract documents, project specifications, applicable codes, and established quality and safety standards. This is primarily a day-shift position, with some weekend work required based on project needs and the construction schedule. This position does not offer employment visa sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction industry.
  • Previous experience as a Construction Inspector or QA/QC Manager.
  • Strong ability to prepare professional correspondence and maintain accurate, organized construction site records.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction practices, materials, methods, and installation procedures.
  • Extensive experience interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and other contract documents.
  • Strong knowledge of construction safety protocols, OSHA requirements, and jobsite safety best practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline preferred, but not required.
  • Previous experience supporting federal and/or tenant improvement projects preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality assurance oversight for the overall project, evaluating workmanship and inspecting construction activities for compliance with drawings and specifications.
  • Lead and coordinate on-site inspections to ensure compliance with contract documents, design specifications, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Monitor and document daily construction progress to verify compliance with approved plans, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Inspect materials, workmanship, and installation methods for architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life-safety systems.
  • Prepare detailed field reports, non-conformance notices, photographic documentation, and other required project records.
  • Review and verify contractor pay applications based on completed work.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements, including applicable OSHA regulations.
  • Support project closeout activities, including punch-list verification, testing, final inspections, and confirmation of project completion and compliance.
