About The Position

Cherokee Strategic Solutions, LLC (CSS) is seeking a Construction Inspector to support the 50th Civil Engineer Squadron at Schriever Space Force Base. The Construction Inspector performs on-site construction inspection and surveillance, documents project conditions and deficiencies, and supports Government oversight of contractor compliance with approved plans, specifications, schedules, quality requirements, and safety standards. A Government contract requires that this position be filled by a person with legal United States residency and work authorization status. The selected candidate must be eligible to obtain and maintain installation and restricted-area access, including completion of required background checks and training.

Requirements

  • Degree in construction management or construction technology.
  • At least three years of extensive construction and/or contract-related experience.
  • Knowledge of construction-inspection practices and procedures for building materials, workmanship, utilities, and system installations.
  • Familiarity with electrical, mechanical, structural, architectural, and civil elements of major construction projects.
  • Knowledge of construction-industry safety practices and procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering and architectural plans, specifications, Statements of Work, and related construction documents.
  • Working knowledge of construction trades and applied mathematics, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Ability to prepare complete, accurate, timely, and auditable inspection records.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with standard office productivity tools and electronic project-documentation systems.
  • Legal United States residency and work authorization status.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain installation and restricted-area access, including completion of required background checks and training.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site inspections and surveillance of complex construction projects during active construction.
  • Review construction activities for compliance with approved plans, specifications, schedules, contract requirements, safety requirements, and engineering principles.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, architectural plans, details, specifications, schedules, submittals, and other construction documents.
  • Monitor construction schedules, work sequencing, materials, equipment, workmanship, and contractor quality-control practices.
  • Inspect delivered and installed materials and equipment and coordinate samples for testing when required.
  • Identify, document, and report nonconforming work, safety violations, deficiencies, field conflicts, and deviations from contract requirements.
  • Review plans and specifications against field conditions and provide factual recommendations to Government engineers and contracting personnel.
  • Prepare daily inspection logs, safety observations, formal inspection reports, nonconformance documentation, and records of field discussions, decisions, and changes.
  • Prepare weekly summary inspection reports.
  • Review contractor submittals, progress schedules, and payment requests and provide technical recommendations to the Government.
  • Attend pre-construction, progress, pre-final, final, and other project-related meetings.
  • Track corrective actions and verify completion of identified deficiencies.
  • Prepare monthly project-status information for the required Project Status Report.
