About The Position

Dynamic Civil Solutions (DCS) is seeking various levels of Construction Inspectors to join their team in Birmingham, Alabama. This role supports Construction Engineering and Inspection (CE&I) services for transportation and infrastructure projects. The position involves both field and office duties, requiring the inspector to follow standard procedures for documenting construction projects and inspecting job activities to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications. This is an opportunity to grow within a collaborative, client-focused, and forward-thinking team. The position may be filled at Level I, II, or Sr. Inspector, depending on qualifications and experience. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Entry-level to eight (8)+ years of experience in construction inspection, surveying, or highway materials testing, depending on role level; advanced degrees or licensure may substitute for experience
  • Working knowledge of construction inspection practices, with increasing proficiency in applicable standards, specifications, and testing requirements (including ALDOT) as level advances
  • Ability to support or lead inspection teams and coordinate daily Construction Engineering & Inspection (CE&I) activities, based on experience level
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with team members, clients, and contractors
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, and applicable drafting/surveying software) appropriate to role level
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for maintaining accurate project documentation
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to and from project sites

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred
  • Asphalt Level I Laboratory Technician Certification
  • Asphalt Level II Quality Management Technician Certification
  • Certified Concrete Technician (ACI and ALDOT)
  • Roadway HMA Pavement Technician Certification
  • Work Zone Safety Certification
  • Radiation Safety Technician Certification
  • Qualified Credentialed Inspector (QCI)
  • Contract Plan Reading Certification

Responsibilities

  • Perform and/or lead field inspections to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and applicable standards (including ALDOT requirements)
  • Support and progressively assume responsibility for coordinating daily inspection activities on active construction projects, based on experience level
  • Accurately document construction activities, quantities, and compliance through daily reports and inspection records
  • Review inspection documentation for accuracy and completeness, with increased oversight responsibilities at higher levels
  • Utilize surveying, measurement, and basic drafting skills to support inspection and documentation efforts, as applicable to level
  • Assist in identifying and resolving field issues by coordinating with contractors, project managers, and clients
  • Maintain organized and thorough records of inspection reports, testing logs, and work zone compliance documentation
  • Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, including internal staff, clients, contractors, and regulatory personnel
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior inspectors as experience and role level increase
