About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a full-time Construction Inspector to join our Construction Management Team in Sarasota, Florida. This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our team locally with support from one of the best-qualified municipal consulting firms in the country. The Construction Inspector, with the support of a strong nationally recognized technical staff, will utilize their expertise and technical knowledge of construction inspection, construction field management, QA / QC, and report documentation, on various construction and/or reconstruction projects for municipal water and wastewater treatment, pump stations, SCADA, electrical, civil or other construction projects. The Inspector will report to Resident Engineer and/or Project Manager and may lead other inspectors in completing tasks and providing regular updates on daily construction activities.

Requirements

  • 10 years of mechanical/civil/utility construction inspection experience
  • Identifying, analyzing, and providing innovative solutions to problems
  • High level of math aptitude
  • Ability to multi-task several priorities
  • Solid time management skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (particularly MS Excel, MS Word, MS SharePoint, and Outlook)
  • Employee must work year-round in various weather conditions

Nice To Haves

  • 15 or more years of civil/utility construction inspection experience
  • Experience with civil/mechanical construction inspection activities on small to larger sized infrastructure construction projects
  • NASSCO ITCP / PACP certifications
  • ACI or NICET certifications
  • OSHA 10 Safety and Confined Space Entry Training
  • Active participation in a regional or national professional association

Responsibilities

  • Observe and inspect construction work performed by contractors
  • Perform punch list inspections
  • Review drawings and specifications and other technical documents
  • Prepare detailed daily activity and progress reports/photos
  • Participate in project schedule and contractor invoice reviews
  • Maintain quality assurance requirements and approach and monitor code compliance issues
  • Inspect and determine deviations from general compliance with Contract Documents; clearly and professionally inform the contractor of required corrections
  • Review submittits and other construction documents and recommend technical solutions
  • Attend and participate in construction meetings, safety meetings/updates and project site coordination meetings
  • Monitor and document contractor resource utilization (labor, materials, and equipment) for field changes, and time and material work and assist with negotiation of basic field construction changes
  • Verify equipment and materials installation for payment purposes
  • Maintain Payment Quantity documentation
  • Perform mathematical calculations as necessary during inspection activities
  • Ensure Arcadis’ project safety guidelines are being met during daily inspections
  • Some local travel may include to project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, construction oversight, etc.
