About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a full-time Construction Inspector to join our Construction Management Team in Sarasota, Florida. This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our team locally with support from one of the best-qualified municipal consulting firms in the country. The Construction Inspector, with the support of a strong nationally recognized technical staff, will utilize their expertise and technical knowledge of construction inspection, construction field management, QA / QC, and report documentation, on various construction and/or reconstruction projects for municipal water and wastewater treatment, pump stations, SCADA, electrical, civil or other construction projects. The Inspector will report to Resident Engineer and/or Project Manager and may lead other inspectors in completing tasks and providing regular updates on daily construction activities.

Requirements

10 years of mechanical/civil/utility construction inspection experience
Identifying, analyzing, and providing innovative solutions to problems
High level of math aptitude
Ability to multi-task several priorities
Solid time management skills
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (particularly MS Excel, MS Word, MS SharePoint, and Outlook)
Employee must work year-round in various weather conditions

Nice To Haves

15 or more years of civil/utility construction inspection experience
Experience with civil/mechanical construction inspection activities on small to larger sized infrastructure construction projects
NASSCO ITCP / PACP certifications
ACI or NICET certifications
OSHA 10 Safety and Confined Space Entry Training
Active participation in a regional or national professional association

Responsibilities

Observe and inspect construction work performed by contractors
Perform punch list inspections
Review drawings and specifications and other technical documents
Prepare detailed daily activity and progress reports/photos
Participate in project schedule and contractor invoice reviews
Maintain quality assurance requirements and approach and monitor code compliance issues
Inspect and determine deviations from general compliance with Contract Documents; clearly and professionally inform the contractor of required corrections
Review submittits and other construction documents and recommend technical solutions
Attend and participate in construction meetings, safety meetings/updates and project site coordination meetings
Monitor and document contractor resource utilization (labor, materials, and equipment) for field changes, and time and material work and assist with negotiation of basic field construction changes
Verify equipment and materials installation for payment purposes
Maintain Payment Quantity documentation
Perform mathematical calculations as necessary during inspection activities
Ensure Arcadis’ project safety guidelines are being met during daily inspections
Some local travel may include to project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, construction oversight, etc.
