About The Position
Mott MacDonald is seeking a Construction Inspector I/II to join their expanding transportation team in the Western New York area. This role focuses on highway, bridge, and other related transportation construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of construction industry standards and practices within the transportation sector and a desire to gain experience on large-scale highway and bridge construction projects. Requirements
- Interest in a diverse range of construction projects including bridge, highway, culvert, and related transportation improvement projects.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Possess appropriate level of education and/or experience.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
- 0-5 years inspection experience related to highway and bridge construction including New York State Department of Transportation, New York State Thruway Authority, and/or locally-administered Federal-Aid projects.
- Proficiency in collecting data, interpreting plans, conducting field measurements, performing calculations, and documenting work performed by contractor.
- Proficiency with standard software applications and ability to learn new programs.
- Associates Degree in Civil Engineering/Technology or Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering/Technology.
- Good organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist with monitoring of daily construction activities.
- Track and report quantity usage.
- Prepare daily work reports as needed.
- Verify conformance of materials supplied by the contractor with standard specifications and contract documents.
- Interpret construction drawings and specifications on projects as needed.
