Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED, required
  • Commitment to obtaining all required INDOT Certified Technician certifications within the first year of employment
  • 0 – 2 years of experience in construction, construction inspection, or a related field; internship or vocational experience welcome
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and ability to travel within the region required
  • Ability to work in inclement weather, work on a construction site, be exposed to heavy construction equipment, and walking
  • Adaptable and self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset as well as a proactive approach to problem solving

Responsibilities

  • Monitor work of contractors to ensure quality control and contract compliance for roadway, structure, and bridge construction
  • Monitor contractor operations to ensure compliance with contract terms and specifications
  • Provide general inspection on construction labor and subcontracted tasks
  • Provide reports on assigned work activities, contractor labor and equipment, and quantity of materials received
  • Perform on-site material testing and verification
  • Calibrate and maintain testing equipment
  • Create and compile close out / final construction records documents for submission
