The overall function of this position is to assist the Project Engineer in the activities of the Project Engineer's office located in District 62, by engaging in construction inspection and supervision duties. This position is responsible for assuring high quality construction work in accordance with plans, specifications, and contract provisions. Incumbent may be required to perform duties in extreme conditions (rain, heat, or cold, day or night), to use a state vehicle for parish wide travel, and to lift items up to 45 lbs. Structured training requirements must be met and maintained. The person filling this position is required to possess a valid motor vehicle driver’s license. While in an official capacity, DOTD employees must comply with applicable Louisiana and Civil Service laws, rules, and regulations, as well as DOTD policies, procedures, manuals, and directives. The incumbent must be self-motivated and be able to perform duties many times with or without minimal supervision and be able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise. The incumbent will participate in DOTD structured training programs as appropriate and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required tasks.
