About The Position

Pioneer Technical Services, Inc. is currently recruiting for an entry level employee to perform Construction Inspection and Materials Testing in our Bozeman Geotechnical Laboratory. The position will generally be 40 hours per week on average with some overtime on an as-needed basis during busy periods. This position will involve field inspection services and geotechnical /materials testing in the laboratory. Field Inspection services include field density testing using nuclear density gauge, fresh grout and concrete sampling, shotcrete testing and coring. Laboratory testing will include performing Atterbergs, proctors, sieve analysis and numerous other geotechnical soils testing. Other duties will include data management, equipment maintenance, and sample organization. Project experience in general construction, field density testing, concrete testing, soil sampling, and materials testing as well as experience with Microsoft Word and Excel programs is preferred but not required. Pioneer will provide on the job training to perform field testing and laboratory testing tasks. Candidate must have a valid Class D driver's license with no driving restriction in place. Pioneer has project through Montana and Idaho and depending on assigned office location significant driving may be required to meet project demands.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Valid Class D driver's license with no driving restrictions.
  • Basic Computer Skills.
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • College education preferred.
  • Field of Study: Civil/Environmental Engineering, Soil Science, or related/equivalent education or experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel programs.
  • Project experience in general construction, field density testing, concrete testing, soil sampling, and materials testing.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with Contractor or Site Supervisor regarding testing results and any failing tests or problems.
  • Confer with supervisor to determine project details such as plan preparation, acceptance testing, and evaluation of field conditions.
  • Inspect project site and evaluate contractor work to detect deficiencies and ensure conformance to design specifications and applicable codes.
  • Prepare daily field inspection reports that document project activities and data.
  • Conduct materials testing and analysis using provided tools and equipment.
  • Data management, equipment maintenance, and sample organization.
