About The Position

This role involves leading and supervising sheet metal installers on commercial construction projects. The position requires hands-on installation of HVAC ductwork and related components, interpreting technical drawings, and coordinating with various project stakeholders. The lead will be responsible for ensuring work quality, managing materials, documenting progress, and mentoring crew members to uphold company standards and project deadlines.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC sheet metal installation practices and SMACNA standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and motivate field crews.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial HVAC sheet metal installation experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a lead, foreman, or supervisory role managing sheet metal installation crews.
  • Experience with commercial new construction and retrofit projects required.
  • OSHA 10 certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Experience with equipment rigging, startup coordination, and construction scheduling preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and coordinate the daily activities of sheet metal installers on commercial construction projects.
  • Plan, organize, and assign daily work to ensure project schedules and milestones are achieved.
  • Install commercial HVAC ductwork, equipment, supports, curbs, dampers, and related sheet metal components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, specifications, and installation details.
  • Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and other trades to maintain project schedules and resolve field issues.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with project specifications, SMACNA standards, manufacturer requirements, and applicable building codes.
  • Inspect work performed by crew members to ensure quality workmanship and compliance with company standards.
  • Identify installation challenges and implement effective solutions to minimize delays.
  • Oversee material management by verifying deliveries, tracking inventory, and coordinating material needs.
  • Assist with equipment startup and commissioning activities as required.
  • Complete daily reports, production tracking, time records, and other project documentation accurately and on time.
  • Train, mentor, and develop sheet metal installers and apprentices by providing technical guidance and hands-on instruction.
  • Maintain professional communication with customers, general contractors, project managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure company vehicles, tools, and equipment are maintained in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
  • Lead and supervise sheet metal installation crews on assigned projects.
  • Assign daily work responsibilities and monitor crew productivity.
  • Train, coach, and mentor installers and apprentices.
  • Monitor employee performance and provide feedback to management.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and professional development within the crew.
