About The Position

This is an entry-level position for an apprentice in the commercial HVAC and sheet metal construction field. The apprentice will assist experienced journeymen in fabricating and installing ductwork, equipment supports, and other sheet metal components. The role involves learning to read blueprints, operate tools and equipment, and adhering to safety protocols. Continuous learning through apprenticeship training and technical education is a key aspect of this role, aiming to develop comprehensive skills in sheet metal fabrication and installation.

Requirements

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and a strong interest in pursuing a career in commercial HVAC and sheet metal construction.
  • Ability to read or learn to read blueprints, mechanical drawings, and shop drawings.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and basic sheet metal fabrication equipment.
  • Basic understanding of measuring, layout, and fabrication techniques or a willingness to learn.
  • Strong work ethics, reliability, and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to producing quality work and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Enrollment in or completion of sheet metal, HVAC, or skilled trades apprenticeship or trade school program.
  • Previous construction, mechanical, fabrication, or HVAC experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the fabrication and installation of commercial HVAC ductwork, fittings, equipment supports, and related sheet metal components.
  • Install hangers, supports, dampers, and other HVAC system accessories according to project specifications.
  • Measure, cut, assemble, and install sheet metal components using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment.
  • Follow the instructions of Journeymen.
  • Assist with equipment setting and duct connections.
  • Maintain company tools, equipment, and work areas in clean and organized conditions.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and job site safety requirements.
  • Identify and report job site hazards and assist in maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Participate in apprenticeship training, technical education, and ongoing professional development to build sheet metal fabrication and installation skills.
