About The Position

MUZA Sheet Metal is a Midwest leader in architectural metal systems, known for its family-oriented culture, energy, and customer-driven mindset. As they are growing fast, they are looking for driven individuals to grow with them. They are hiring a Construction General Laborer / Pre-Apprentice to join their expanding team. No experience is required, and training and tools are provided. This position offers the ability to transition into their long-standing, highly regarded Apprenticeship Program.

Requirements

  • Ability to complete sheet metal projects with accuracy and precision.
  • Ability to safely use machinery and tools involved in sheet metal work.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics to understand product assignment.
  • Attentive to detail and alert at all times.
  • Ability to read labels, safety warnings, and guidelines.
  • Possess physical and mental aptitudes and capabilities that will enable them to do the essential functions of the job.
  • Strong work ethic and attendance at all shifts and trainings.
  • Possess ability to learn, problem-solve, independently assess situations, and respond appropriately and safely to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate, understand, give or follow written, verbal, or demonstrated instructions, write information, and request assistance.
  • Ability to communicate well with all types of people – external and internal consumers of services.
  • Exceptional project management skills including the ability to create action plans and achieve the timeline.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously.
  • High School diploma or HSED (required for Apprenticeship)
  • Valid Driver’s License

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with power tools and machinery is a plus.
  • A detailed-oriented person who demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting Sheet Metal Journeyman and Apprentices in daily job duties, both in shop and on jobsites.
  • Performs some specialized tasks which may require on-the job training.
  • Effectively using heavy and light equipment.
  • Assembling and fabricating flashing, panels, and ductwork.
  • Measures, cuts, and welds pieces together according to specifications, blueprints, or directions.
  • Cleaning and daily maintenance of shop and jobsite.
  • Loading and gassing company trucks.
  • Delivering product and tools to jobsite.
  • Performs assigned work such as punching holes for screws or bending gutters.
  • Connects pieces or secures seams by riveting, rolling, soldering, or using steel screws.
  • Assist with building maintenance.
  • Cutting, measuring, bending, and assembling sheet metal.
  • Assist in shop fabrication process and process and in the field installations at job sites.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in order to keep up with company needs.
  • Promote and encourage the organization’s Mission, Vision, Values, and philosophy.
  • Attendance on the job, as well as to trainings, continuing education, and meetings as scheduled.
  • Accept additional work assignments as needed.
  • Be knowledgeable in and observe all Muza Sheet Metal procedures, and policies.
  • Maintain a positive and respectful attitude.
  • Cooperate with supervisor in evaluating and improving performance.
  • Work cooperatively with all team members.
  • Exercise good judgement, decision making, and regard for safety within all aspects of performing job duties.
  • Appropriately bring to Management/Human Resource’s attention actual or potential violations of standards, policies, and/or procedures.
