About The Position

Armitage Architecture Inc. (Armitage) is a leading architectural, engineering, and construction company dedicated to ensuring safe and compliant project execution. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Construction Foreman to oversee daily construction activities while actively participating in the work. The Construction Foreman will lead and coordinate crews, ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, manage schedules, and provide hands-on labor as needed to complete tasks efficiently. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise in multiple construction trades, and the ability to balance supervisory responsibilities with active fieldwork.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Proficiency in one or more construction trades (carpentry, concrete, structural, finishes, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of construction safety practices, OSHA regulations, and quality control standards.
  • Physical ability to perform construction labor, including lifting, climbing, and working in varying weather conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to travel to job sites as required.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship will be required as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience on Federal, DoD, or large commercial construction projects.
  • Experience with EM 385-1-1, federal safety compliance, and QA/QC documentation.
  • Active security clearance (or ability to obtain one).
  • Specialized trade expertise such as structural concrete, steel erection, or heavy civil.
  • Experience leading large crews (20+ tradespeople).
  • Prior employment with federal contractors or large-scale general contractors.
  • Applicants may be required to have REAL ID ACT compliant documentation at the time of hire to prohibit them from gaining access to military installations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct daily activities of construction crews, subcontractors, and laborers.
  • Perform construction work alongside the crew, including carpentry, concrete, demolition, framing, installation, and other hands-on tasks.
  • Interpret drawings, specifications, and project documents to ensure accurate execution of work.
  • Monitor productivity, quality, and progress to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Enforce safety policies and OSHA standards; conduct daily safety meetings and inspections.
  • Coordinate material deliveries, equipment usage, and workforce assignments.
  • Maintain accurate records of labor hours, equipment, materials, and project progress.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and owners to address issues and keep projects on track.
  • Train and mentor crew members, promoting skill development and teamwork.
  • Troubleshoot on-site problems and provide practical solutions.
