About The Position
The Construction Estimating Manager will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiated proposals. This role involves performing quantity takeoffs, reviewing project drawings and specifications, and soliciting, evaluating, and coordinating subcontractor and vendor pricing. The manager will develop and manage scopes of work for all construction trades, prepare material pricing summaries, and maintain estimate documentation. They will utilize project schedules, logistics, and construction sequencing to develop accurate estimates, and collaborate with operations and field teams to identify value engineering and cost-saving opportunities. Additionally, the role supports project logistics, staging, phasing, procurement presentations, and bid-day activities, while preparing professional estimate deliverables and maintaining complete audit trails. This position also involves mentoring junior estimators and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred (equivalent experience considered).
- 3+ years of commercial construction estimating experience (5+ years of overall construction experience preferred).
- Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods, trade scopes, labor productivity, and general requirements.
- Experience performing quantity takeoffs and developing comprehensive cost estimates.
- Proficiency with construction estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Experience building strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and project teams.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
