About The Position

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Construction Engineer Specialist to join our team! In this role you will get to lead field construction projects including supervision of inspection staff. Typical responsibilities are focused on a variety of ancillary construction activities combined with some engineering assignments and/or related tasks. Although the incumbent may perform some constructability design reviews and related assignments, this work does not encompass a sufficient amount of his/her time to warrant exempt status. Frequent travel to construction site locations and/or relocation to construction site locations may be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or construction-related field, or equivalent construction-related work experience
  • 3+ years of related work experience in engineering or construction as well as familiarity with industry practices
  • Familiarity with CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with Engineering and Construction.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews contractor submittals for compliance with contract documents and prepares appropriate responses.
  • Provides independent estimates for scope changes, and reviews contractor change submittals for price/quantity accuracy.
  • Reviews specifications for contract compliance and prepares comments on proposed changes.
  • Reviews and validates contractor project schedule and budget for all on-site activities, and monitors progress in meeting schedule and budget requirements.
  • Performs daily site walks to confirm that construction methods and activities are performed safely and in accordance with construction plans, specifications, and contract requirements.
  • Records findings in field log and communicates areas of concern to construction team.
  • Anticipates problems and works with client, architects/engineers, subcontractors, and Project/Construction Manager to identify and implement corrective actions.
  • May provide technical review of construction documents to confirm design intent and coordination between design disciplines.
  • Keeps client and Project/Construction Manager up to date on day-to-day project activities.
  • Conducts weekly job progress meeting.
  • Prepares and submits summary of project progress to Project/Construction Manager.
  • May be responsible for on-site procurement, including scheduling purchases of materials and equipment, tracking deliveries, and submitting invoices to client for payment.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
