About The Position

MBP is seeking a Construction Engineer II to join their team in the Columbia, Maryland area. This role is for a full-time position with growth opportunities, focusing on projects that support the community. The ideal candidate will have education and experience in engineering or construction management with demonstrated increasing responsibility. As a Construction Engineer II, you will take a lead role in planning and managing small to mid-size projects, or lead a sub-group on larger projects. You will collaborate with Project Managers, clients, peers, and team members across various sectors including federal, laboratory facilities, data centers, state, municipal, K-12 school, higher education, and healthcare projects.

Requirements

• Experience in design or construction work activities, with demonstrated increasing responsibility, of the same or similar type sought for this position
• Experience may be in the following sectors: federal, laboratory facilities, data centers, state, municipal, K-12 school, higher education, or healthcare projects
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field
• Engineering principles, principles of construction management and project controls, with specialized knowledge of one or more areas including scheduling, cost estimating, documentation, contract administration, or construction techniques
• Thorough understanding of several of MBP's services
• Strong understanding of building codes, laws, and regulations that might affect assigned projects
• Write clear, concise, and accurate reports
• Coordinate with clients
• Carry out assignments from conception to completion
• Work within budgets and meet deadlines
• Identify potential problems and derive recommended solutions from past experiences
• Skilled in more than one of the following services: pre-construction, constructability and design review, critical path method schedules, cost estimating, project budgeting, financial analysis, delay analysis, construction quality assurance, automated control systems, quantity take-offs, and closeouts
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Utilize computers (including Microsoft Office software, BlueBeam, and PMIS) and other specialized equipment
• Understand and track project schedules
• Communicate issues effectively and responsibly (verbally and in writing) with internal and external customers (i.e., contractors, owners, subconsultants, and fellow Team Members)
• Obtain and maintain industry certifications specific to duties assigned
• Work collaboratively within a team
• Lift/carry 50 pounds (occasionally) and 20 pounds (frequently)
• Stand and sit as needed on project work sites, climb ladders, work at heights, and work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions
• Safely navigate construction work sites with uneven terrain
• Project management responsibility in close liaison with the Project Manager on small to mid-size projects
• Lead role in planning and managing small to mid-size projects and/or leading a sub-group on a large project
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

Nice To Haves

• FE/EIT certification
• CMIT certification
• Working toward other certifications such as PE, CCM, CCE, or PSP is preferred
• Must possess OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour certification or obtain within 3 months of hire
