About The Position

Field Engineer is responsible for planning and technical oversight of field construction activities within a specified discipline associated with procurement, fabrication, installation, modification and maintenance of systems and components. Position requires a thorough understanding of Construction Engineering principles and ability to apply these principles to field conditions. Experience in the preparation of computer-based construction work execution plans (work Packages) including job specific hazards analysis, i.e. Asset Suite and Assisted Hazard Analysis or equivalent.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering and at least 5 years of practical experience in construction field engineering or Associate's degree in engineering and 5-10 years of practical experience in construction, engineering or High school diploma and 10+ years of practical experience in construction, engineering.
  • Familiar with National codes and standards (i.e. AISC, ACI) and possess the ability to interpret and analyze these requirements to determine equivalent means of achieving compliance when necessary.
  • Experienced with excavation, shoring, rigging calculations and development of ordinary and critical lift packages.
  • Experienced with structural steel fabrication and erection
  • Experienced with concrete placement
  • Capable of climbing / spending extended periods of time in the field.
  • Capable of obtaining qualification to work in radiation / contamination areas.
  • Working knowledge of discipline specific codes and standards.
  • Previous experience with generating work execution plans (preferably utilizing the Asset Suite work control system)
  • Previous experience with generating job hazards analysis.
  • Previous experience performing material take off and procurement.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of SRS guides and standards for concrete placement and protective coatings would be a plus

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with Design agencies to ensure timely issuance of new design or design changes.
  • Walk down and review designs for constructability, resolve design problems encountered in the field during construction and meets with and discusses solutions with Design Engineers.
  • Inspects / verifies materials, equipment, and construction workmanship and assures compliance with drawings, specifications and code requirements.
  • Coordinates with Quality Control to ensure the installation meets the requirements.
  • Participates in turnover activities.
  • Supports / participates in start-up and functional check out of equipment and systems.
  • Design output constructability reviews
  • Review design output and vendor documents
  • Field walk down with design engineers
  • Verify design constructability including procedure and code compliance
