Construction SW Cost Management Specialist
About The Position
Topcon Solutions is seeking an experienced construction professional with an interest in technology and financial workflows to join its Software Services team. The specialist serves as a subject matter expert for Autodesk Forma Cost Management and construction financial workflows, working with general contractors, subcontractors, and owners to understand project cost processes and implement effective technology solutions. The role bridges construction operations, project accounting, financial systems, and technology, helping customers create practical and scalable workflows across the project lifecycle. The specialist leads discovery, demonstrations, implementations, training, and ongoing support; evaluates customer processes and turns business requirements into software workflows; and configures Cost Management settings, permissions, templates, standards, and controls. The position works with customer stakeholders and Topcon Solutions sales, technical, and integration teams to align solutions with business processes and, when applicable, ERP and accounting systems. It also contributes to implementation standards, documentation, training materials, service development, and best practices.
Requirements
- Professional experience in the construction industry, particularly in project management, construction accounting, project controls, cost engineering, construction technology, or financial systems.
- Strong understanding of construction financial management and project cost-control processes.
- Experience implementing, configuring, administering, or supporting business or construction software.
- Ability to understand complex financial and operational workflows and translate them into practical software configurations.
- Experience training and supporting administrators and end users.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and customer-facing communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with project teams, accounting and finance professionals, executives, and technical stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple customer engagements and priorities simultaneously.
- Occasional business travel is required.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Autodesk Forma Cost Management or comparable construction financial-management software.
- Familiarity with Procore Financials or similar construction cost-management platforms.
- Familiarity with construction ERP and accounting systems.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject matter expert for Autodesk Forma Cost Management and construction financial workflows.
- Lead customer discovery sessions, technical demonstrations, implementations, training, and ongoing support.
- Evaluate cost-management processes and translate business requirements into effective, scalable technology workflows.
- Configure account- and project-level Cost Management settings, permissions, templates, and standards.
- Help customers configure and optimize workflows for budgets, budget codes, cost structures, contracts, commitments, purchase orders, change orders, cost items, forecasting, payment applications, actual costs, cash flow, and financial reporting.
- Conduct workflow discovery with project management, operations, accounting, finance, and executive stakeholders.
- Develop standardized Cost Management templates, approval processes, permissions, and financial controls.
- Train administrators and end users, including project managers, project engineers, accounting teams, executives, and other stakeholders.
- Advise customers transitioning from spreadsheets or other construction financial-management platforms to Autodesk Cost Management.
- Collaborate with integration specialists on exchanges between Cost Management and ERP, accounting, or other business systems.
- Partner with sales teams during technical discovery, demonstrations, and solution validation.
- Assist in validating proposed workflows and configurations before implementation.
- Develop and maintain implementation standards, documentation, training materials, templates, and best practices.
- Contribute to the development of Topcon Solutions' Cost Management services and implementation methodologies.
- Stay current on Autodesk Cost Management developments, integrations, and construction technology trends.
- Manage multiple customer engagements and priorities simultaneously.
- Travel occasionally for business.
