About The Position

Requirements

  • University, College, or Postgraduate Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction is required.
  • 3+ years of construction experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience deemed relevant.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications for underground structures.
  • Proficient computer skills – MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, AutoCAD, etc.
  • Knowledge of project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, and Gantt chart planning tools
  • Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives.
  • Excellent problem-solving and prioritizing skills.
  • Adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience on multidisciplinary, large-scale railway and/or infrastructure projects is an asset.
  • Highly motivated with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with ability to clearly express requirements and expectations to a wide range of individuals.
  • Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Follow up on all construction activities related to the assigned station and ensure compliance of activities with the project agreement.
  • Responsible for creating scope of works and initiating and requesting the procurement department to contract the necessary agreements and supply chains for the development of the station works.
  • Provide overall contract administration, technical expertise, and support to specific areas of civil works.
  • Understand client drivers and offers value engineering proposals for schedule, functionality, and cost-benefit.
  • Track progress billing, cost reports, inventory, and quantity tracking of each subcontractor assigned.
  • Negotiate and issue subcontracts, major purchase orders, and progress payments and monitor the progress and schedule of assigned subcontractors.
  • Understand, communicate, and enforce the contract documents with assigned subcontractors.
  • Ensure sketches and scope of work documentation meets Ontario standards.
  • Identify and manage risks and opportunities on scope of assigned subcontractor.
  • Manage all the information coming from assigned subcontractor and prepare production, labour, and machinery reports for effective work control.
  • Monitor progress of the design, including compliance issues, quality, general coordination, constructability, and timing of deliverables.
  • Prepare all work plans and staging drawings related to the assigned scope of work and track all the documents sent for obtaining construction permits.
