In this role, you will support complex engineering, construction, and infrastructure projects that contribute to world-class scientific research. Working closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, tradespeople, and technical teams, you will help coordinate on-site activities, support project execution, and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project requirements.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, electrical, and mechanical drawings.
  • Organizational skills, time management and project specific management abilities.
  • Practical knowledge of Project Management tools and techniques
  • Experience with project and documentation tools (e.g., Procore, MS Project, P6 Primavera)
  • Good oral and written communication skills to convey project priorities of schedule and safety, and understand and convey risks and issues to stakeholders.
  • Able to work in a team environment (Engineering, Purchasing, Estimating, Construction, etc.).
  • Ability to complete detail-oriented tasks effectively and consistently with high quality
  • The incumbent will be required to complete the TRIUMF in-house radiation safety training course and be designated as a TRIUMF Nuclear Energy Worker.
  • Degree or diploma in a Project Management field, such as Civil Engineering/Technology or Construction Management
  • 1-3 years of related professional experience, ideally in construction coordination with exposure to technical or in-house support environments.
  • On site work oversight/supervisor experience
  • Experience with Worksafe BC regulations
  • Applicants must be legally able to work in Canada on a permanent basis (Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and direct site crews (e.g., mechanical trades, electricians, technicians), including frequent worksite visits and inspections and liaise with Consultants, Engineers and Superintendents
  • Assist with job and site safety for daily activities and promote a safe work culture
  • Supervise safety protocols during technical installations (e.g., confined spaces, working at heights).
  • Take photos, document discrepancies, and produce field reports that support corrective actions
  • Track progress of work against planned dates and escalate delays and issues project team
  • Assist PM in preparing RFIs, submittents, change orders, daily logs, progress reports, and technical field notes as required
  • Assist with the creation of schedules and look ahead for workers and subcontractors
  • Assist with execution of risk assessments and inspections to ensure compliance with WorksafeBC, EGBC, and TRIIUMF technical and safety standards and operational requirements
  • Assist project manager with required project procurement process by estimating, finding and contacting suppliers, placing orders and issuing purchase orders
  • Assist project manager with required permitting (in house or outside), required inspection, and measurements
  • Perform hands on technical tasks and use of basic tools as required. Approximately 10% of role, tasks include light construction or other technical work including site preparation and maintenance, and assisting other tradespeople and technicians
