Construction Client Accountant
About The Position
Syscon is seeking an experienced Construction Client Accountant who enjoys working directly with clients, solving day-to-day accounting challenges, and managing a variety of work. In this role, you will manage the day-to-day accounting needs of multiple construction clients, working directly in Sage 100 Contractor across payroll, job costing, WIP, billing, reconciliations, and month-end close. You will have ownership of your client work along with the support of a team that understands construction accounting and technology. This is a full-time, remote W-2 position with a flexible schedule, offering a supportive, team-oriented culture and comprehensive benefits.
Requirements
- Recent, hands-on Sage 100 Contractor experience is required
- Direct construction accounting experience with WIP, job costing, payroll, progress billing, reconciliations, and month-end close
- Experience with other construction accounting systems does not replace the Sage 100 Contractor requirement
- Strong, recent construction accounting experience
- Hands-on experience preparing and maintaining WIP and job costing
- Hands-on progress billing experience
- Experience personally processing payroll directly in Sage 100 Contractor, including payroll taxes and filings
- Multi-state payroll experience
- Union payroll and/or prevailing wage payroll experience
- Strong month-end close experience
- Hands-on AP, AR, journal entry, and reconciliation experience
- Ability to manage accounting responsibilities, deadlines, and competing priorities across multiple clients
- Comfort communicating directly with clients about day-to-day accounting questions and needs
- Strong organization, accuracy, and follow-through
- Ability to step into an existing client environment with minimal ramp-up
- U.S. work authorization required

- Deep and recent Sage 100 Contractor experience
- Experience supporting multiple construction companies, entities, or clients
- Certified payroll experience
- AIA billing or pay application experience
- Experience supporting audits and year-end accounting
- Ability to explain accounting concepts clearly to non-accountants
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting for multiple construction clients
- Personally process payroll directly in Sage 100 Contractor, including payroll taxes and filings
- Perform bank reconciliations, sales tax filings, month-end close, and billing support
- Prepare and maintain job costing and WIP
- Support progress billing, AP, AR, audit, and year-end accounting needs
- Work directly in Sage 100 Contractor supporting ongoing client accounting workflows
- Maintain accurate records and a clean audit trail across client work
- Identify and resolve accounting issues independently when possible
- Manage multiple client deadlines and competing priorities
- Communicate clearly with clients and follow through on commitments
