About The Position

The Construction Carpenter is responsible for constructing, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures. They will ensure a clean and safe jobsite while adhering to all plans, specifications, and quality requirements. The carpenter will also work directly with Project Managers, the General Superintendent, and Superintendents to clarify scopes of work and plan project activities. They will collaborate with Owners and other stakeholders to ensure projects are completed quickly and efficiently with client satisfaction as the primary goal.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of construction experience
  • OSHA 10 certified
  • Strong organizational skills
  • General knowledge of all building phases and trades
  • Ability to stack the schedule and accomplish the work in the shortest timeframe possible while adhering to the plans, specs, and quality standards that are required
  • Communicate effectively in person and through technology including MS Office software, email, and cell phone
  • Analytical with the ability to examine issues from multiple viewpoints
  • Proactive—looks for problems that could impede progress and takes responsibility for solving them
  • Ability to work well with diverse personalities
  • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs often and up to 100 lbs occasionally
  • Ability to work indoors or outdoors in all temperatures and weather conditions
  • Ability to walk over uneven terrain and climb ladders
  • Perform occasional concrete work, rough and trim carpentry
  • Dress and act in a professional manner at all times
  • Ability to speak and write the English language fluently

Responsibilities

  • Schedule the daily work of craftsmen, material deliveries, testing agencies, site inspections, and on-site labor.
  • Attend bi-weekly progress meetings on site with craftsmen and suppliers to facilitate coordination of site activities and schedule, and provide reports to subcontractors and the Superintendent.
  • Create and provide Weekly Construction Progress Review Notes to all field and office personnel, including at least two pictures per day with a brief description of daily activities.
  • Coordinate schedules within the parameters of the project master schedule and inform the Superintendent of any deviations.
  • Produce daily reports through the company-provided software indicating all activities and facilitated meetings.
  • Maintain regular paperwork for the job file, including time sheets, daily reports, progress photos, testing reports, inspections, and as-built drawings.
  • Keep the job site neat and orderly through regular cleanup and good housekeeping practices.
  • Communicate and enforce safety rules for everyone on site.
  • Regularly plan activities for the upcoming weeks, focusing on coordinating issues ahead of time to eliminate re-work and added costs.
  • Review and send all potential issues to the Superintendent, Project Manager, or General Superintendent for proper RFI procedures.
  • Control costs through efficient use of resources and value engineering when possible.
  • Ensure all work complies with the plans and specifications set forth by the Design Team.
  • Confirm that the completed project meets the quality standards that TeamFederal is known for.
  • Verify that work is installed in a workmanlike manner (straight, plumb, level, etc.).
  • Eliminate the need for prolonged schedules and warranty work by staying on top of all construction activities daily.
  • Along with the Superintendent, prepare and complete any as-built drawings as the work progresses.
  • Supervise the completion of all assigned punch list items.
  • Perform rough carpentry, finish carpentry, formwork, concrete pouring, site cleanup, and other construction scopes as may be required.
  • Send requests for on-site equipment to the Superintendent and/or General Superintendent for proper documentation and notify when returned.
  • Review required project materials with the Superintendent and/or General Superintendent so that Project Managers can create the needed purchase orders.
  • Operate equipment as needed, such as all-terrain forklifts, skid steers, scissor lifts, core drills, and concrete saws.
  • Capitalize on daily opportunities for excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
