About The Position

The Construction Buyer will support the Nucor Construction team and Division capital project teams by fulfilling procurement needs in a timely and cost-effective manner. This role involves developing and maintaining relationships with key internal and external vendors/contractors, evaluating their capabilities, and procuring materials while maintaining project files for capital projects to ensure timely delivery. The buyer will also be responsible for understanding internal purchase accounting, ensuring compliance with Nucor Corporation and Division purchasing policies, and ensuring contracts and statements of work or order acknowledgements are in place. This position is a fully in-office role located in Charlotte, NC, with up to 50% travel to divisions, especially for greenfield projects. Candidates must be willing to work before and after regularly scheduled work hours as business conditions warrant.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business or related field or 5 years of relevant experience
Two or more years of purchasing related experience
Ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards

Nice To Haves

Construction materials purchasing experience
Oracle or other large ERP experience
Contract experience

Responsibilities

Developing and maintaining relationships with key internal & external vendors/contractors
Evaluating vendors’ product and/or service capabilities
Procuring materials & maintaining project files for capital projects to ensure timely delivery for project execution
Understanding internal purchase accounting to ensure orders are recorded for appropriate amounts
Ensuring compliance with Nucor Corporation & Division specific purchasing processes, policies, and controls
Ensuring contracts are in place and executing statement of works or order acknowledgements as applicable
