About The Position

This role is generally responsible for planning and scheduling of heavy industrial engineering projects, monitoring project costs and/or estimating projects. Work will be performed under general supervision. Primary responsibilities will include purchasing and expediting delivery of raw materials, equipment, supplies, spare parts, and services to maintain continuous plant operations. The role involves negotiating contracts and/or purchase agreements for raw materials, spare parts, supplies, services and equipment for new projects under the direction of management. Communication with all departments is key to fill their purchasing needs and to inform them of order status. The position also participates in and conducts supplier audits, sources goods and services, prepares and analyzes RFQs, and audits purchase orders and requisitions for clear, correct and specific information. Compiling, storing, and retrieving purchasing records, building and managing vendor relationships, and participating in meetings are also part of the role. The Construction Buyer will analyze market trends and apply this knowledge to make insightful buying decisions, support strategic sourcing initiatives, and ensure that correct contracts are in place with vendors. Other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 3+ years of relevant industrial experience in planning, scheduling, cost control and estimating.
  • Microsoft Office applications required.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, oral communication, and writing skills.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and organized; can handle numerous tasks simultaneously without losing focus; ability to properly prioritize work.
  • Detail minded and delivers quality work products.
  • High commitment to work processes, procedures, and systems.
  • Commercial negotiation skills.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Construction Science, Building Science or advanced coursework is highly preferred.
