About The Position

With 92 years of history, Harkins Theatres is looking for a Construction and FF&E Estimator/Analyst who provides budgeting and sourcing support for multiple projects, including new construction, remodels, and strategic initiatives across the portfolio. Maintains a historical cost database and provides forecast pricing for future projects, including Furniture, Fixtures, & Equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering or equivalent work experience with 3 or more years of preconstruction/estimating and/or operations experience on commercial construction projects, or 7 years of progressive experience in a related field.
  • Financial and job costing experience required.
  • Strong computer skills, including use of bid management software, estimating software, online plan rooms, and database applications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel skills, including formulas, v-lookup, pivot tables, charts, and dashboards.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Able to deal with many projects in various stages and work well under tight deadlines.
  • Organized with strong attention to detail and ability to exercise judgment and discretion in maintaining confidential and sensitive information.
  • Able to focus and prioritize with frequent interruptions and minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work independently and/or with a team.
  • Maintains a professional attitude and demeanor. Demonstrates unimpeachable integrity and accountability. Communicates professionally in all circumstances.

Responsibilities

  • Performs accurate, thorough, and timely quantity takeoffs using takeoff software such as PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, etc.
  • Develops accurate and concise clarifications and assumptions with the project team’s assistance.
  • Attends project site pre-bid meetings, site tours, and post-bid interviews as required.
  • Assists the construction team with bid qualifications, ensuring cost aligns with scope and budget.
  • Performs plan review when required to confirm drawings are consistent with the approved scope.
  • Prepares construction & cost estimates for building projects from drawings, outlines, and specifications, including estimates for new structures, built-in equipment, site work, landscaping, and alteration or demolition of old structures.
  • Prepares construction cost and spend analysis for long-range planning.
  • Prepares comparative cost estimates for each remodel project according to alternate scopes of work and in comparison, with past projects.
  • Prepares 30-60-90-day reports to project cost reporting against budget.
  • Generates and issues regular project cost reporting against budget.
  • Provides post-project reporting, indicating budget variances and explanations for each.
  • Prepares budgets for and tracks department spending for all CapEx and OpEx expenditures.
  • Researches and recommends alternate materials and equipment to reduce initial and ongoing operational costs.
  • Creates RF(X) documents for Owner-supplied Furniture, Fixtures, & Equipment materials
  • Negotiates with existing vendors for owner-furnished items, including but not limited to; Lighting, Millwork, Furniture, AV equipment, Controls, Carpet, and kitchen/concession equipment.
  • Communicates effectively in writing and verbally to vendors, contractors, consultants, and employees at all levels.
  • Researches and recommends products to maximize available energy rebates through utilities or local/federal governmental programs.
  • Regular attendance and physical presence at the work site. Travel approximately 10%.
  • Must have current auto insurance at all times as well as a valid driver's license.
