The Construction Lead provides leadership and field oversight for construction work in one or more primary disciplines, including constructability, construction planning, transmission lines, substations, distribution, fiber communications, or tower communications. The role supports safe, efficient, high-quality construction execution, with a strong emphasis on identifying and addressing safety risks. It serves as a subject matter expert and primary liaison between Construction Management and cross-functional partners, supporting project planning, coordination, and execution while aligning stakeholders, schedules, and field activities. For constructability, the role integrates construction methodology into early project development through creating and standardizing Constructability Scoping Reports. It evaluates projects at a conceptual level, defines construction approaches before detailed design, and leads cross-functional scoping to align sequencing, access, and execution strategy. GIS, drawings, and other tools are used to develop construction sequences and evaluate access constraints, outage coordination, material flow, and logistical risks. The role incorporates site conditions and execution constraints into scoping deliverables and supports continuous improvement through lessons learned, contractor feedback, and refinement of constructability practices. The role also involves expertise in high- and medium-voltage electrical infrastructure construction, including transmission lines, distribution networks, and substation equipment. It interprets technical documentation such as transmission plan and profile drawings, structure loading trees, sag and tension charts, substation one-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, distribution staking sheets, and feeder layouts. Construction methods include conductor stringing, sagging and tension operations, structure erection, substation equipment installation, pole setting, framing, and overhead and underground conductor installation. Work may be coordinated in energized or near-energized environments, taking construction and outage sequencing, switching requirements, and system reliability impacts into account. This posting covers multiple grade levels. The stated minimum qualifications apply to Construction Lead Senior; Construction Lead Principal has higher education and experience requirements. The role requires site visits to substations and transmission lines, including long-distance driving. The stated physical demand level is sedentary work, involving sitting most of the time with occasional walking or standing and exertion of up to 10 pounds occasionally.
